22-year old forward Markieff Morris is off to a good start as a rookie for the Suns so far this year. He has played in 9 games (0 starts) for the Suns so far this year and he is averaging 21.6 minutes, 8.8 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. Morris is also shooting 12 of 22 (54.5%) from three point range so far this year, which is very, very impressive for a player his size. Morris will likely see his P.T. spike if he continues to play like he is right now.

38-year old point guard Steve Nash is still playing at a high level despite his advanced age. Nash played in 8 games (all starts) for the Suns this year and he is averaging 28.8 minutes, 12.0 points, 1.8 rebounds and 9.8 assists on 50% shooting from the floor. Nash is still moving up the NBA’s all-time lists. He is now #6 in assists (9,330) in league history and he is also #10 in three point shots made (1,575). Nash has also passed up Mark Price for the all-time free throw % as he has hit 90.4% of them in his career so far. The Suns are probably going to have Nash start looking for his shot more in the near future.

The Suns outrebounded the Blazers 47-38 last night and they held them to a putrid 32.5% shooting from the floor, which were the big reasons for the win. Jared Dudley (18 points, 1 rebound, 3 assists, 3 steals and 1 blocked shot) and Steve Nash (17 points, 2 rebounds, 9 assists and 1 steal) led the way for the Suns in this game. Shannon Brown (14 points, 5 rebounds and 1 steal), Markieff Morris (13 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 blocked shot), Marcin Gortat (12 points, 8 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot) and Hakim Warrick (12 points and 3 rebounds in 24 minutes on the floor) also pitched in for the Suns. Hakim Warrick is stepping up for the Phoenix Suns

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, General, Steppin Up by alleyoop on Thursday 5 January 2012 at 7:04 pm

29-year old forward Hakim Warrick is amazingly leading the way for the Suns so far this year. Warrick has played in 5 games (0 starts) for the Suns so far this year and he is averaging 23.2 minutes, 12.8 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. I don’t see Warrick leading the team in scoring too much longer, because for some reason, the Suns just don’t let the guy play enough. But look for Warrick to keep giving the Suns solid production off the bench.

The Phoenix Suns waive Garret Siler

Blogged under Bloglockers, Comings & Goings, Front Page, General by alleyoop on Tuesday 3 January 2012 at 5:07 pm

The Suns have waived 25-year old center Garret Siler. Siler played in 21 games (0 starts) as a rookie for the Suns last year and he averaged 4.8 minutes, 2.1 points, 1.3 rebounds and 0.1 assists per game. This is a good sign for the Suns as they seem pretty deep in the frontcourt this year. They won’t miss Siler going forward.
